HONK!!

Updates from the Pond + A Very Special Announcement

Hello Geese! Long time no honk. We hope your year is off to a flocking fantastic start — we’ve missed you these last couple months and are so ready to be back in flight. We’ve got a lot of eggs in our basket this almost-spring, so let’s chat!

First, and most rapidly approaching, we are open for ISSUE SEVEN Submissions now through March 31, and we can’t wait to read your very best craft-forward whimsy! The Flock has seen some changes around the pond, so be on the lookout for new faces (and check out our ever growing masthead HERE), and expect that our response time might grow just a feather. Don’t want to wait? Check out our expedited response option on Submittable, Speedy McGeese, and support the mag. Make sure to check out our guidelines HERE before submitting; our editor prefs have been updated!

Next up: AWP ‘26! That’s right, The Flock is heading to Baltimore! Catch us at the bookfair (all day, every day!) at Table T889 — give us a honk and buy some merch (we’ve got hats this year, y’all)! You can also find Lexi at her very first panel on Friday at 10:35am in conference room 309! (LINK HERE). She’ll be joined by some of your favorite lit mag editors: Mick Carrigan of Taco Bell Quaterly, Rita Mookerjee of Honey Literary, Split Lip Magazine, and so many others (she is so busy and talented and beautiful, yall), Aaron Burch of HAD, and Jeremy Schraffenberger of the North American Review. They can’t wait to chat all things voice and literary magazines! AND, because we’re everywhere, please join us at SGP’s very first offsite event at CROSSBAR from 8-11pm! Yes, you’re reading that right, we’ve had a location change to better accommodate our community, and we are SO excited to bring the silly to Crossbar! This event will be special for many reasons, of course, but we’re especially excited because this will be our first event in our new literary event series, Silly Goose Salons!

What is Silly Goose Salons, you might ask? You always have such great questions! Silly Goose Salons, a very serious literary community, is being launched with the same intentions as the mag: we want to exist in a space that we don’t quite see in the literary landscape just yet, so we’re building it! Salons will be a series of events focused on bettering our craft as writers, bettering our understanding of the industry, and bettering our community. We’ll be hosting monthly(ish) events ranging from Speed Dating (to further literary friendships, but, hey, if you find true love, we certainly won’t complain!) to writing workshops to write ins and even some very special panels with very special guests (industry pros that we can all learn a lot from). This is the very beginning, geese. Find more info HERE, and let us know what questions you have!

In the meantime, we do hope to see you on Thursday night at Crossbar for the very first installation of Silly Goose Salons: Speed Dating! AWP in all of its glory can sometimes get a little sitty quiet listeny, and if you’ve got a goosey brain like me, you want nothing else than to honk the night away! Join us for some structured friendship making (we’ll have low stakes games and high stakes prizes!) and so much love in our hearts (and maybe even a friendship bracelet making station!). Come join us for a chatty silly friendship-filled evening!

That’s all I’ve got for you today, my feathered friends. I hope to hear from you soon!
